The Jazz Cruise '19
Our Take: The Music Never Stops!
Today is changeover day on Celebrity Infinity. What has been our home for 7 amazing days of The Jazz Cruise is over and we start another 7 amazing days of Blue Note at Sea. More than 240 guests on The Jazz Cruise are joining me "in transit" as we begin our 2nd week of fabulous music. If you are not jealous, well, you should be!

Seriously, The Jazz Cruise '19 was wonderful. The ship was great, the musicians were spectacular and the guests were among the most lovely we can remember. Our first two full days of the cruise were "at sea" and we enjoyed music from morning to afternoon to evening to late night. Ken Peplowski was our host for the annual Welcome Show and it featured great musicians and vocalists presenting a tribute to Nat King Cole in honor of his upcoming Centennial Birthday Celebration.

While at sea, John Clayton led the big band, Chucho Valdés and Joey DeFrancesco performed a duet, Music Director Shelly Berg hosted a Vocalist Jam with Eliane Elias, Cyrille Aimée, Steve Tyrell, Mary Stallings, Niki Haris and others, including a surprise appearance by Jack Jones. Jack was sailing as a passenger and we begged him to share a tune or two. It was a lovely moment and lots of fun.

Another highlight of the cruise was the presence of Benny Golson. He looked great and performed even better. What a great honor it was to have such jazz royalty on the ship. Randy Brecker, Bill Charlap, SF Jazz Collective, James Morrison and John Pizzarelli were among the many other performers, contributing, in all, to 225-plus hours of live music.

And, of course, our guests were great performers as well. The daily Passenger Jam and the show at the T-Shirt Party were filled with the amazing talents of vocalists and musicians who were sailing on the cruise as guests.

Sadly, The Jazz Cruise '19 is over, but we are excited for The Jazz Cruise '20, our 20th anniversary sailing. And we cannot wait for 5 p.m. today when Blue Note at Sea '19 kicks off. The music will be great and the fans will be amazing as well. After all, it is a jazz cruise. Would you expect any less?!

Blue Note Records Launches Series of Wall Art
In honor of Blue Note Records' 80th Anniversary in 2019, the legendary label has launched a new series of limited-edition wall art that celebrates the iconic imagery of Blue Note's classic era. For the first time ever, Blue Note is offering archival-quality, framed canvas prints in dynamic scale (22"x22", 32"x32", 42"x42") that present the legendary album cover designs of Reid Miles and photography of Francis Wolff.

Twelve album covers are currently available at the Blue Note Shop, with additional prints to be made available later this year.
With the exception of the 10" cover for Thelonious Monk's Genius of Modern Music: Vol. 2 (which was designed by Paul Bacon), the wall art series features the widely influential cover designs of Reid Miles. When Blue Note moved to the 12" LP format in 1955, Francis Wolff brought in Miles to begin adapting Blue Note albums to the new larger format. Over the next 12 years Miles revolutionized album cover design with his bold typography and creative use of Wolff's photographs, creating about 500 stunning covers that brilliantly captured the sound of Blue Note Records in visual form.

Eight of the pieces will be on display on the Celebrity Infinity during Blue Note at Sea '19!
