The Jazz Cruise ’11 will be the first appearance of Wessell “Warmdaddy” Anderson on our cruises and he comes highly recommended and decorated. Discovered by Wynton and Branford Marsalis and following their advice, Wessell went to Southern University and studied with Alvin Batiste. Soon after this he began touring with the Wynton Marsalis Septet and collaborated with Marsalis during the ‘90’s and became the lead alto saxophonist of the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra. In 2001 Wess joined the faculty of Julliard School of Music Jazz Studies as a professor of saxophone.
